On May 26 of this year Nordic finalized an agreement to obtain a seismic option from a major, international, US-based oil Company that will lead to the drilling of a new test well in the Weyburn region of south east Saskatchewan.
The deal called for Nordic to purchase three existing 2D seismic lines totaling approximately 15.7 kilometres which has been done..
There is an indication of seismic highs on all three formations, and we have identified four potential locations for drilling.
An offset well in the area has produced 36,000 barrels since 1991, and originally produced at a rate of 75 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) from the Midale/Frobisher formation.
The Company’s primary attention is now being focused on its Weyburn property in southeastern Saskatchewan, where it plans to test the Bakken, Red River and Midale/Frobisher formations.
In addition, Nordic recently acquired a further 320 acres of land approximately one mile from our original land acquisition.
This new land has current production in the adjoining quarter section, and we have identified two locations which indicate that the adjoining formation extends over these lands. The Company has already obtained seismic and have identified that there is potential for production from the Midale /Frobisher, the current producing formation next to us, along with the Bakken and the Red River formations.
It was the Red River formation which identified the opportunity to Nordic when the Company obtained the original land it obtained in the area.
