ANALYSIS OF WELL LOGS INDICATES MULTIPLE GAS ZONES AT NORDIC’S 15-12-38-25 W4 WELL IN JOFFRE
Both 15-12-38-25 W4 and 16-20-38-24 W4 to be Perforated This Week
WINNIPEG, MB. (December 11, 2006) - Donald Benson, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Nordic Oil and Gas Ltd. (TSXV: NOG) today announced that the analysis of the well logs on the Company’s 15-12-38-25 W4 well in Joffre, Alberta, Canada has been completed and that initial interpretations indicate multiple gas zones in the Belly River formation. The logs show a gas zone at the bottom of the Belly River formation in the Basel, which Nordic sees correlating with its 3-18-38-24 W4 well.
The Company also has found what it believes to be a significant gas deposit approximately 40 metres higher and, “we also see gas at the top of the Belly River formation, which we believe is a blanket sand that covers all of our land in the area,” Mr. Benson stated.
“We are excited about the possibilities for this well, particularly given that it connects with the 3-18 well in the Basel,” he added. “We are also excited that we see gas in the second zone, something we have not seen in any of the other Belly River wells which we have drilled in the area.
“In addition to all of this, we are also excited about the fact that the Coal Bed Methane (CBM) we see on these logs also bodes well for CBM production from this section of land, underscoring our belief that Coal Bed Methane is prevalent throughout the area.”
The Company expects to perforate the 15-12-38-25 W4 well and its other new well, 16-20-38-24 W4, later this week.
Once these wells have been placed on production, this will bring to seven the number of Nordic gas wells currently on production in the Joffre area. In addition, the Company is also awaiting tie-in of three Coal Bed Methane wells drilled earlier this year.
“The logs from these three CBM wells all clearly indicate that they are producible and we await the tie-in by the operator,” Mr. Benson added.
Nordic Oil and Gas is a junior oil and gas exploration company, which is listed on the TSX Venture Exchange and trades under the symbol NOG.
