Nordic Oil and Gas Announces Decides
Not To Sell Its Joffre Production; Will Focus On Drilling New CBM Wells
In The Region
Company Also Announces Plans to Drill 2 Shallow Gas Wells at Kamsack
WINNIPEG, MB. (June 9, 2005) - Donald Benson, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Nordic Oil and Gas Ltd. today announced that the Company has rejected all offers it received to acquire its property at Joffre, Alberta and will not be selling any portion of its Joffre land at this time.
"While we felt it prudent to examine all our options regarding a possible sale of this land, upon evaluating the offers we did receive for the 4,920 gross acres that we have in Joffre, we did not feel that true value for the property would have been achieved by accepting any of these offers," Mr. Benson stated. "As such, we will be retaining our interests in these lands and will be proceeding with our development and drilling initiatives as planned."
Mr. Benson went on to say that the Company at no time had its Joffre property "up for sale". "We were approached by several companies expressing interest in possibly acquiring our Joffre lands and we felt it was our obligation to all current and prospective shareholders to disclose this information in light of the fact that the Company is currently engaged in a public financing," he said.
He added that the Company is very much looking forward to further advancing its initiatives in drilling for Coal Bed Methane (CBM) now that its well in Joffre at 5-20-38-24 W4 has been drilled and cased by Trident Exploration Corp. The well will receive a nitrogen frac and will be perforated in the next few weeks.
"We have received the logs from Trident on this well and we look forward to analyzing the data and information that has been accumulated thus far," he noted. "The completion of the drilling of this well adds to our proven and probable reserves on our Joffre land, and we feel this bodes well for future development in the area."
Nordic has an interest in 11 sections of land on its Joffre property, which contain coal seams in the Horseshoe Canyon formation between 135 and 500 metres. It is thought that the Coal Bed Methane from these seams is capable of producing 200 to 300 thousand cubic feet per day (MCFD).
In addition to moving forward with its initiatives in Joffre, Mr. Benson stated that the Company will also turn its attention to its recently acquired Cote First Nations' lands at Kamsack, Saskatchewan.
"We now intend to drill two shallow gas wells on the Cote land in the coming weeks," he said. "We are extremely optimistic about this area given its rich history, and feel it is imperative that we move forward as quickly as possible with a shallow gas drilling program. In addition, we continue to advance the permitting for seismic surveys planned for this area."
Nordic also plans on commencing further drilling and development initiatives on its Preeceville property, also in east-central Saskatchewan. The Company received further validation of the outstanding potential of this property when Saskatchewan Industry and Resources announced that its sale of Petroleum and Natural Gas Rights on August 16, 2005 will include a 453,520 acre parcel to the south of Nordic's Preeceville land.
"Clearly this has become a very 'hot area' in Saskatchewan," said Mr. Benson. "The interest and activity on the lands near ours is a strong indication that this is a very highly prospective region and we are eagerly anticipating the start of our own drilling program at Preeceville."
In further news, the Company has been advised by the Beaver First Nation that it is looking to re-structure the initial agreement signed with Nordic Oil and Gas, prior to the issuance of the permit by Indian Oil and Gas Canada. "We plan on meeting with Beaver First Nation Chief Henry Francis in the coming weeks to address this issue," Mr. Benson stated.
Nordic Oil and Gas is a junior oil and gas exploration company, which is listed on the TSX Venture Exchange and trades under the symbol NOG.
