Positive Field Test Data from Neighbouring Lands Suggest Strong Presence of Gas on Nordic’s Preeceville Property
WINNIPEG, MB. (May 31, 2007) - Donald Benson, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Nordic Oil and Gas Ltd. (TSXV: NOG) (“Nordic” or “the Company”), today announced that the Company is considering re-entering its 14-14-39-5 W2 well at Preeceville, Saskatchewan, Canada, which was perforated last August.
The decision to re-enter this well stems from positive core and geo-chemical field data and perforation inflow test results announced earlier this month by another junior oil and gas company, which owns approximately 16 townships (576 sections) of land about 10 kilometres directly south of Nordic’s land holdings in Preeceville. Core data from this company’s three Saskatchewan properties, including the nearby Foam Lake property, shows permeabilities ranging from 0.01 to 32.2 millidarcies, with an average of 4.02 millidarcies. Such values are considered good to excellent by industry standards in terms of a formation’s potential ability to flow gas. Furthermore, Total Organic Content (TOC) from the drill cuttings range from 0.31% to 11.72%, with an average of 3.76%. TOC values above 0.5% are considered sufficient by industry standards to generate in-situ biogenic gas.
Perforation inflow test results from a selected number of wells recorded unstabilized reservoir pressures as high as 494 psi, or 3,400 kpa from the wells in our area.
“Positive results such as these from lands in such close proximity to our own, suggest to us that there very well could be a strong presence of gas within our Preeceville land,” Mr. Benson says. “We have long felt that this area of east-central Saskatchewan was one of great potential and our beliefs are being proven by such results and all of the activity that is taking place in the region.”
The Preeceville area is being heavily explored with over 20 wells having been drilled in the last half of 2006, including 16 by one company alone. In addition, two large Exploration Permit Blocks were acquired in the region at the October 2006 Crown land sale by other parties.
